Next in our series on the athletes that inspire our swimmers is a long distance swimmer who is a former World Junior Open Water Champion.

Biography;
Alice Dearing was born in 1997 and she is from Birmingham. She is a student of Loughborough University. In 2016, she was crowned World Junior Open Water champion in Hoorn, the Netherlands, which cemented her position on the world marathon swimming stage.

Alice's senior international bow came at the 2015 World Championships in Kazan, when she raced the 5km distance.
In 2016, she was crowned World Junior Open Water champion in Hoorn, the Netherlands, which cemented her position on the world marathon swimming stage. In-between these World appearances, Alice placed 12th over 10km at the 2018 European Championships, she had previously competed at the World Championships in Budapest in 2017, where she achieved a top-25 finish in the individual 10km event and helped achieve a placing of fifth against a talented international field in the Mixed 5km Team Relay. She placed 11th in the Mixed 5km Open Water event at the last World Championships in Gwangju in 2019, after finishing 17th in the Women's 10km race.
Former World Junior champion, Alice earned her Olympic selection with a brilliant swim at the qualifying event in Portugal in June 2021, surging forward and into the lead pack to place fourth overall.
