Clitheroe Dolphins est 1973
Clitheroe Dolphins is a friendly competitive swimming club who train at Ribblesdale Pool in Clitheroe and Stonyhurst College Pool at Hurst Green.
The team is led by Head Coach, Paul Davison ably assisted by a team of volunteer helpers both on poolside and on the Committee.
How do Clitheroe Dolphins train?
Dolphins’ swimmers train within a group which is specific to their development needs, working to enhance their strengths and to help them to reach their full potential.
Swimmers can join the club from the age of 6, and progress up through the sessions according to their ability. Each session has a minimum of five lanes of swimmers and each lane has swimmers of comparable ability.
Swimmers train between two and nine times a week, with a Saturday morning sessions for the older swimmers.
Training concentrates on technique through all four strokes, stamina through fitness and technical ability through starts and turns.
Emotional resilience, maturity and team skills, are developed through being part of a team and experiencing the highs and lows of competition, as well as supporting fellow team members.
Land Training is held weekly at Roefield gym this helps to improve upper body strength and flexibility
Dolphins strongly encourage swimmers to engage in a number of other different sports to promote cross training and building core strength and fitness and we have recently commenced waterpolo sessions which are proving very popular.
